How I See It: Conversation with Edmon Chung & NetMission Ambassador, Aneesah Suhaidi

Dear Friends,

2020 presented disrupting challenges, and left its mark on us collectively no matter who or where we are. Like never before, we are forced to slow down, pause and re-examine our priorities not only as individuals but also as a community. Perhaps more than any other year, we are thankful for your partnership, and your friendship. We miss seeing you in meetings, we miss socializing with you in person. We hope, like us, you are also finding joy in working from home and cherishing more time with your families.

In 2021 we will continue to focus on bringing the .Asia brand to Asian communities worldwide by highlighting Asian heritages and sharing successful .Asia domain stories online. We invite you to follow our channels and check out our original videos and posts. We thank you for your continued support for DotAsia. I’d love to hear from you should you have any questions or concerns. You can reach me directly at edmon@dot.asia.

Finally, we hope you take pleasure in all things big and small this holiday season, however different it may be. I look forward to seeing you in person again soon.

Sincerely,

Edmon Chung

DotAsia Board Chair Remarks: Maureen Hilyard

Dear DotAsia community

2020 has been a challenging year for everyone with the COVID-19 pandemic raging globally, preventing any opportunity for face-to-face meetings. However, while we have experienced some testing times during the year, the DotAsia Board and Staff would like to thank our Sponsor and Co-sponsor members as well as our partner organisations on the DotAsia Advisory Council, for your continued trust and support.

While we were glad to welcome two new members to the Board at the beginning of the year - Nicole Chan from Taiwan and Billy Cheon from South Korea, we were very sorry to lose two active Board members during the year - Atsushi Endo from Japan and Lianna Galstyan from Armenia, due to work and personal reasons respectively. At this time I would like to thank my Board colleagues for their commitment and hard work, especially those who took on executive duties as Chairs of our core subcommittees and those others who attended the regular monthly Board and subcommittee meetings. But also, special thanks to Edmon and all the staff who have continued to work conscientiously on their assigned tasks both inside of DotAsia and out in the community. Thanks so much.

At the end of December, we will be holding elections to appoint four new Sponsor members and one co-Sponsor member, to the Board for the next two years. All DotAsia members will by now have received a copy of the Board Election Procedures and an opportunity to nominate someone to actively participate on the DotAsia Board. We look forward to receiving your nominations and to our on-going connection during 2021.

If you have any questions or queries for the staff or the -Board please reach out and let us know. We hope you will enjoy a relaxing holiday period with friends and family, and that we will all eventually have an opportunity to meet again soon.

Seasons Greetings and a Happy New Year

Maureen Hilyard
