DotAsia and DotKids Season's Greetings Image

As the year draws to a close, we look back fondly at 2023. It’s been a year marked by numerous achievements for DotAsia, but also one not without challenges to overcome.

First and foremost, we would like to thank you, the .Asia community and our registrar partners, for your support and patronage. With you by our side, a bright future for .Asia lies ahead. We remain steadfast in our commitment to DotAsia's mission and vision of promoting Internet development and advancement in Asia.

.Asia’s Community Work: EcoInternet Report
In 2023 DotAsia Organisation launched the EcoInternet Index Report that dives into sustainable practices for businesses, individuals, and policymakers. Through this report, we aim to raise awareness and foster collaboration for environmentally sustainable Internet infrastructures in Asia. Please join us in the movement for a more eco-friendly online ecosystem in Asia.

NetMission.asia
Our flagship program, NetMission.asia, introduced a biweekly NetMission Digest, where students communicate complex Internet Governance policy and tech news into easily comprehensible blog posts. Read about their latest post on Cross-Border Privacy Rules here.

.Asia Domains
We are pleased to share that .Asia will be closing the year with more than 300k domains under management, with most .Asia domain usages coming from South East Asia.

.KiDS
In Q4 of 2022, DotAsia and the DotKids Foundation launched the .KIDS TLD. To date, we have more than 4,500 domains under management.

Outside of regular registrar channels, we are actively working with new partners to promote .KiDS. Recently, we’ve partnered with KidNuz, a popular newscast podcast for kids, that brings children and their families age appropriate news!

Lastly, Season’s Greetings from our family to yours! We wish you a joyous Holiday Season and a peaceful and prosperous New Year!

DotAsia Board Community Chair's Remarks:

As the Chair of the DotAsia Board’s Community Project Committee (BCC), the Board team is privileged to share in the planning and programming of a range of community initiatives which Edmon and his staff team help to coordinate within the Asia-Pacific region. I was sponsored by DotAsia to attend the Global IGF 2023 in Kyoto and appreciated being able to share this experience with inspirational Net Mission and APIGA graduates who joined DotAsia staff in several environmental and human rights discussions (including children’s rights and online safety) that uphold DotAsia’s core values. The BCC Team is also proud to support these future leaders within our Asia-Pacific region.

Already the BCC is looking forward to a full agenda of community activities for 2024. This will include an Extraordinary General meeting for member engagement at APRICOT in February, and the APRIGF which will be hosted in Taipei, Taiwan alongside the TWIGF in August. It is noted that DotAsia provides a valuable Secretariat service for this popular annual event, plus coordinates the Synthesis Document which is a collaboratively compiled record of the regional meeting’s outputs. The Net Mission team is once again proposing a host of events for 2024 to encourage youth engagement in internet related events. We thank DotAsia Organisation for their continual encouragement and support for these and other community involvements ...
